HONORS PROGRAM IN THE BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES |

| Students admitted to the Honors Program in Biological Sciences have the opportunity to participate in special discussion sections of Introductory Biology courses and engage in Honors option projects. Honor students acquire an extra dimension of intellectual accomplishment that comes with independent research project that is a component of the Honors program. The Honors Program is open to any student with a H.P.A. of 3.3 or higher, or to any student already admitted to the University Honors Program. Graduation with honors in Biological Sciences requires a cumulative overall H.P.A. of 3.3. Transfer students or other students with a Biological Sciences H.P.A. of at least 3.5 may be accepted into the Honors program. These students are not required to take the Introductory Biology Honors sequence. However, the student will be required to elect other BIO courses required in the Biology program as Honors Option. The Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree with Honors in Biological Sciences requires 14 honor credits in Biology and at least 10 additional honor credits, which includes an Honors Program Seminar (HON 4200-4998).
Remember: To be awarded an Honors Degree, Student must maintain an H.P.A. of at least a 3.3 in the major, and accumulate 24 honor credit hours.
